Subject to Change: An Inquiry into Metamodernism and (Graphic) Design

MFA Thesis book, completed after a two-year study in Graduate Communications Design at Pratt Institute. The thesis deals with the study of the   Metamodern cultural paradigm  and looks at strategies towards design through the lens of its certain themes.

The book's design reflects a push and pull between function and expression, and a visual language that is emphasized through its materials. On the exterior, the book remains an object—resemblant of a school notebook with structured, tabular sections—yet is sewn by hand with a soft canvas cover. The interior sections contain an array of contrasting paper types and layouts, and the body chapters develop a color system with highlighted keywords. These performative mechanisms are intended to provide the reader with multiple pathways through the book's varying arguments.
